What is collagen?
Collagen is the most common protein in the body, and is found in everything from bones, skin, cartilage, blood vessels and gums. The word comes from the Greek word “kólla”, which means glue.
As you age, your body produces less and less collagen. Already from the age of 25-30, production falls by 1-2% per year. One of the visible signs of this is that the skin becomes less firm and flexible. It is also a common cause of wrinkles.
Collagen deficiency can be prevented with the right supplement, diet and lifestyle. One of the supplements that can have a beneficial effect on the body’s collagen is vitamin C. Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation, which is important for normal blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth.
